About Hart & Welsh DDS
Located at 903 Hanshaw Rd, Ithaca, NY 14850, Hart & Welsh DDS operates as a dentist serving Ithaca in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Dental care in the United States is delivered mostly by private practices: a general or family dentist who handles exams, cleanings, fillings and crowns, and refers out anything that needs a specialist. Group practices and dental clinics put several dentists, hygienists and sometimes specialists under one roof, often with evening and Saturday hours. Most offices ask new patients for a comprehensive exam with X-rays before routine cleanings, which the American Dental Association recommends every six months. Prices are set by each practice, and most accept dental insurance (PPO plans more widely than HMO ones), CareCredit-style financing or an in-house membership plan for people without coverage. Emergency dental services take same-day patients for toothaches, broken teeth and abscesses, usually at a premium.
The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. Typical hours are 8 amβ5 pm. Note that it does not open on Saturday, Sunday. Ithaca is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Ithaca follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I second the reviewer who commented on the receptionist. The dentists and assistants are wonderful. My wife and I were very happy to finally find a practice that was good for the family. The number of times the billing has been screwed up or claims were not submitted is hard to count. She'll talk up people for extended periods about things unrelated to business while a line of people wait to pay or check in. Once, she cancelled my daughters appointment instead of mine after I left detailed instructions on who's appointment was being cancelled. Another time, I asked her if she would be willing to submit paperwork to my insurer so they could become an in-network provider for us and she declined stating that they wouldn't make as much money that way and if they did it for us, they'd have to do it for everyone. Pretty stunning. Excellent dentists. Horrible front of house staff. I'll be leaving the practice and if I can find another good dentist my family will be switching too. What a shame.

Awful receptionist. I was trying to make an appointment, and she was very unprofessional throughout the phone call. 1. she asked for the same information repeatedly; 2. she messed up the type of appointment I was requesting until I corrected her; 3. her tone of voice sounded very rude and impatient, and her choice of words was passive-aggressive. I put her on speaker during our conversation, and my family members shared the same impression of her; 4. I was directly sent to the voicemail when I called, and I was only able to reach the receptionist when I pressed "0" for more assistance.

Couldnβt be more happy. I chipped my tooth and they were able to see me the next business day, the staff was super considerate and kind the whole time. Iβve had bad experiences before at dentists who just try to get everything done as fast and hack as possible, but here the doctor really took time to make sure that my teeth looked nice, felt good, and would work with my Invisalign. Her filling color matching is so good I canβt even tell itβs a filling!

I found Dr. Hart after my dentist of 35 years retired a few years ago. I now feel just as faithful to Dr Hart. He's an excellent dentist and the dental office is top notch. 10 stars!

I've been going to this office for over 10 years. Both Dr. Welsh and Dr. Hart do excellent work. They and the staff are all very friendly and professional. They service my whole family, including my 2 young children. They are really good with kids! I have the most sensitive teeth, and due to some bad experiences with other dentists long ago when I was younger, I still have some anxiety whenever I see a dentist. I must use the special (expensive) toothpaste that fills the porous parts of your teeth to reduce sensitivity. About 10 years ago, Dr. Hart fixed a cavity in my lower molar. That fix is still intact and looks great. About 8 years ago, Dr Hart fixed a cavity on the outside of my incisor. Again, he did a great job -- the repaired tooth looks great and I no longer have to deal with the constant pain there. Today was the first time I had Dr Welsh work on my teeth. He fixed a cavity in my upper molar towards the back of my mouth, in a fairly inaccessible area of my mouth. He did such a great job. There was no pain at all during the entire procedure which took only 20 minutes! So great!!! 5/5 stars. I highly recommend these guys.
